Breaking waves and sea spray act as seeds for cloud formation, influencing weather patterns and purifying our atmosphere. The ocean also absorbs 30% of carbon dioxide related to human activities and emissions — keeping greenhouse gasses in check and regulating our climate.
More than 3 billion people depend on the ocean as their primary source of food.
Roughly 70% of the oxygen in our atmosphere is provided by the photosynthesis of phytoplankton — that means every other breath you take is thanks to our ocean!
Ocean waves have been proven to produce negative ions, charged particles that have been linked to emotional well-being, while soaking up sunlight releases serotonin, a natural antidepressant :)
