| CORE VALUES AND BELIEFS |
 |
Here is a list of the core values and beliefs of our national office. These reflect an inventory of who we are and how we think we work best with others, working with these ideas has improved our efficiency and created a more meaningful work experience for us and those who are touched by our efforts. We strive to use these every day and hope that we measure up. Please feel free to "call us out" on these if you think we don't live up to them in our dealings with you, we'll learn from the experience.
CORE VALUES AND BELIEFS
-- Surfrider Foundation National Office
- We respect the individual, and believe that individuals who are treated with respect and are given responsibility respond by giving their best.
- We think the very best of those with whom we work. When in doubt we presume the best about our fellow team member.
- We require complete honesty and integrity in everything we do.
- We are open, direct and "up front" regarding communications with our co-workers, Chapters, members and the public.
- We make commitments with care, and we live up to them. In all things we do what we say we are going to do. We will say no beforehand prior to making a commitment when we do not have the capacity to perform.
- Work is an important part of life and it should be fun.
- We are frugal. We respect the value of our donor's dollar. We protect and conserve the Foundation's assets with the highest degree of vigilance possible.
- We insist on giving our very best effort in everything we undertake. Furthermore we see a vast difference between "good mistakes" (best effort, bad result) and "bad mistakes" (sloppiness or lack of effort).
- Clarity in understanding our mission, our goals, our personal interactions and what we expect from each other is critical to our success.
- We believe in the ideals expressed in our mission statement.
- We treat others, as we would want to be treated. In all our dealings we will strive to be friendly and courteous as well as fair and compassionate.
- We feel a sense of urgency on any matters related to our membership. We are responsive to our Chapters and members. We own problems and we are always responsive. We are membership driven.
