In February, the California Coastal Commission (CCC) voted to deny a 6 lane toll highway that would cut through San Onofre State Beach. Over 3,000 people attended the hearing - making it the largest meeting in Commission history. But, toll road developers refuse to accept the ruling and are asking the Federal Government to overturn the Commission's decision. On Friday, July 25th the US Dep't of Commerce will hold a public hearing at the Bren Center, on the campus of the University of California, Irvine. This will be the biggest hearing yet to Save Trestles and WE NEED YOU THERE! We must ensure the Federal Government supports fundamental California environmental laws and upholds the Commission decision. Public participation and your voices were critical in convincing the Commission to stop this toll road. We need to apply the same pressure to the Federal Government - they must see first hand how many people are invested in protecting San Onofre State Beach, Trestles, and California State Parks. Let's do it again--but even bigger this time! Come out, show your support, and make YOUR voice heard This highway project threatens precious coastal open space, water quality and the surf break at Trestles, and it would set a dangerous precedent for YOUR State Park system.Visit Save Trestles.org for all of the details! |
