Local resident and 1977 World Champion surfer Shaun Tomson will present a slide show on his book, Surfer’s Code: 12 Simple Lessons for Riding Through Life to benefit the Santa Barbara Chapter of Surfrider Foundation.  In the book, Shaun explores what he’s learned about life during his long career as a professional surfer.  Not just for surfers to read, his examples are drawn from the complex lifestyle surrounding surfing, and the principles he finds reach out to a broad audience.

In addition to signing copies of his book, Shaun will present a slide show on the 12 principles covered in Surfer’s Code while guests enjoy food, drinks and live acoustic rock by the Sugarwater Babies.  For those who don’t have one, copies of Shaun’s book will be available for purchase at the event.

Shaun’s clothing company, Solitude Clothing, will present the event, along with their distributor, J.C. Penney.  Solitude will bring $500 worth of their clothing for raffle.  Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the preservation of our oceans, beaches and waves.  The Santa Barbara Chapter of Surfrider is currently involved in protection of the Gaviota Coast, public access issues, beach clean-ups and school outreach programs.
