Rockaway Beach and Surfing Restrictions: NYC Rules Revision Campaign

A Better Public Rockaway
| Respect the Beach |
 |
| Respect the Beach is a Surfrider program designed to introduce kids to the beach, educate them on water issues, develop their understanding of what they can do in their daily lives to have a positive impact on beaches and water quality, show them what a valuable and fragile resource our shorelines are, and most importantly get them into the water! We're currently working on our program for 2007 and if you're interested in working with kids over the summer, you should let us know! For more information, contact Chris Wade. |

| Snowrider Project |
 |
The Snowrider Project was launched by the Surfrider Foundation in 1997 to bring greater understanding of the hydrological cycle (the foundation for the intimate environmental connection between snow, land and surf) and foster a sense of stewardship towards alpine and valley watersheds.
While the Snowrider Project was initially conceived to give snowboarders and skiers a vehicle for environmental activism, the range of participants and activists has expanded to include kayakers, canoeists, back-country adventurers and others who appreciate the sanctity of a clean, connected system.
| Surfrider NYC Events Committee |
 |
Surfrider NYC has an Events Committee to plan and execute fun surf-oriented social and educational events throughout the year that bring together cool people and help foster a stronger surf community here on the east coast. Some of our ideas include: sponsoring surf movies nights and surf music concerts, coordinating surf lessons for local kids, having pro surfers come and speak in casual Q&A settings, etc. The possibilities are really endless.
What we need are people to step up who have: 1) a little time to spare, 2) good contacts for possible alcohol/venue/food/raffle prize donations and sponsorships, and/or 3) event planning experience.
If you are interested in being involved shoot us an email back at Adriana Jovanovic and we'll get back to you or keeping checking in here on the website for news about our next meeting.
