Surfrider Foundation's Best Kept Secret MAKING WAVES, April 1998 |
|
It is not often that you can gather a group of highly trained sciense-based professions to work together-for FREE-for a common cause. However, this is the case with the Surfrider Foundation's Environmental Issues Team- a.k.a. "The EIT". The EIT is the environmental brain trust of the Surfrider Foundation and is available to all chapters to assist with their local environmental issues. Many chapters are unaware of the EIT existence or how it works. The EIT can be used as a sounding board for potential chapter positions or for a full detailed review of an issue affecting a chapter. Often times the EIT members serve as pro bono experts directly to a chapter. From biologists to geologists to endangered species specialists to sanitation specialists, the EIT is here to help! The EIT has helped chapters from the Jersey Shore to Oahu on issues that have included sand replenishment, seawall construction, polluted runoff and endangered species habitat. For more information on how to get an issue reviewed or how you can join the EIT, contact: Michelle Kremer at (714)492-8170. |
